GSNENY is hiring an organized and dependable Kitchen Manager to direct the overall food service operation of the camp, including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, management, customer service, and record keeping. This role is perfect for someone with prior food service leadership experience who enjoys maintaining high safety standards and keeping operations running smoothly, all while contributing to a mission-driven camp community.
This position can be filled as a full-summer role (8 weeks total, June 27th – August 21st), or a partial summer at either Hidden Lake Camp in Lake George (June 27th – July 31, 2026) or Lake Clear Camp in Saranac Lake, NY (August 1st - August 21st).
Additionally, this role can be either daily (typically Sunday 4-8 PM, Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 7 PM, and Friday 10-2 PM) or a daily rate with room and board.

You’ll help keep camp running smoothly by supporting food prep, meal service, cleanliness, and food safety, all while being part of a friendly and mission-driven camp community. This includes:
- Planning and coordinating daily meal service
- Supervising Kitchen Assistant position
- Ensuring food safety, sanitation, and compliance
- Ordering and managing food inventory and supplies
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Accommodating dietary needs and allergy protocols
- Supporting special events and camp programming (pack-out meals for units, etc.)
- Daily rate $165-170 with room and board or hourly rate $20.50-$21 per hour
- Work in the beautiful park-like setting of Hidden Lake Camp.
- Experience a summer of fulfilling memories while you build meaningful connections with campers.
- Strengthen your problem-solving, collaboration, and youth mentoring skills.
- Forge lasting friendships with fellow team members through impactful work.
- At least 18 years old by June 27, 2026 (21 years or older preferred)
- Experience in institutional or large food service settings including institutional kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of and experience in food service, ordering, inventory, and budgeting and ability to
- Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently
- Knowledge of and standards of food preparation, serving family-style/buffet serving, and food storage
- Knowledge of and experience in the preparation of special dietary foods
- Ability to interact positively with youth ages 7 to 17; prior youth-focused work or volunteer experience preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain positive professional work relationships.
- Experience in staff supervision
