Mid Level

Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) is one of 110 councils across the United States, helping build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We are looking for a creative Member Program Specialist and Camp Director to design year-round programs and lead summer camp experiences that girls love and remember. This is a great fit for someone who loves facilitating and developing exciting programs and is energized by creating experiences where every girl feels she belongs.

About this role

As Member Program Specialist and Camp Director, you'll create and deliver programs that help Girl Scouts at every level grow, explore, and lead. During the year, you'll build and facilitate programs for our girl members and work in partnership with program providers specifically in the Capital region. In summer, you'll direct our day camp, Camp Is-Sho-Da in East Greenbush, NY. Day-to-day, this includes:

Creating and Delivering Year-round Member Programs

  • Create and deliver year-round programs with clear outcomes for girl members that drive satisfaction and meet engagement goals;
  • Build and manage relationships with program partners and providers, with clear objectives, outcomes, and measurable return on investment.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the Program Partners plan as part of our year-round Member Programs guide. Represent GSNENY programs to current and potential community partners.
  • Keep girls and adults safe through education, safe practices, and consistent application of GSUSA and GSNENY policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Engage volunteers in delivering Council-led programs in ways that are compliant, rewarding, and lead to high return rates.
  • Lead volunteer trainings in outdoor skills, such as outdoor cooking and camping skills.

Lead Camp Is-Sho-Da, our Summer Day Camp

  • Serve as Camp Director, or in a support role, across all aspects of camp: planning, staffing, programming, training, communication, delivery, and in-season support.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise camp staff, with enough coverage to meet camp goals.
  • Make sure camp programs follow the Girl Scout curriculum and are engaging and age-appropriate.
  • Create a culture of belonging at camp by setting clear expectations, training staff, and addressing issues that threaten belonging.
  • Ensure camp programs comply with Council standards, New York State Department of Health regulations, and American Camp Association (ACA) standards.
