Lake Clear Camp is seeking an organized and dependable Kitchen Manager to direct the overall food service operation of the camp, including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, management, customer service, and record keeping. This role is perfect for someone with prior food service leadership experience who enjoys maintaining high safety standards and keeping operations running smoothly, all while contributing to a mission-driven camp community.

Lake Clear Camp: Our Camps are unique and shaped by the physical, and outdoor spaces in which they take place, the team-building nature of our activities, and the welcoming environment that we strive to create. Situated on 91 scenic acres of land on a peninsula on Lake Clear is an Adirondack gem. The camp is surrounded by breathtaking state land in the Adirondack Park, adjacent to the St. Regis Canoe area. Facilities at Lake Clear Camp include renovated cabins with full bathrooms, lean-to units, a dining hall, a health center, and buildings for programs and activities. Campers range from first through twelfth grade.
Summer Camp dates at Lake Clear Camp are July 27 – August 21, 2026. All positions include room and board. Camp staff are generally off from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon each week.
GSNENY operates two summer overnight camps; Hidden Lake Camp in Lake George, NY and Lake Clear Camp near Saranac Lake, NY. Many staff positions can be combined to work at both camps for a full summer of employment (8 weeks total, June 27th – August 21st.)

Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and coordinating daily meal service
- Supervising Kitchen Assistant position
- Ensuring food safety, sanitation, and compliance
- Ordering and managing food inventory and supplies
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Accommodating dietary needs and allergy protocols
- Supporting special events and camp programming (pack-out meals for units, etc.)
- Earn $165-170 per day (depending on experience).
- Work in the beautiful park-like setting of Lake Clear Camp.
- Experience a summer of fulfilling memories while you build meaningful connections with campers.
- Strengthen your problem solving, collaboration, and youth mentoring skills.
- Forge lasting friendships with fellow team members through impactful work.
- At least 18 years old by July 27, 2026 (21 years or older, preferred)
- Experience in institutional or large food service settings
- Knowledge of and experience in food service, ordering, inventory, budgeting, preparation, family-style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food, and kitchen procedures
- Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently
- Experience in staff supervision
- Ability to interact positively with youth ages 7 to 17; prior youth-focused work or volunteer experience preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain positive professional work relationships.
